Tiffin time at the Anchor every Thursday (from January)

Tiffin Time - coming soon

“Tiffin Time” lunch at the Anchor, come in and take it easy or take it away to chill out at home. We offer a range of authentic Southeast Asian street food from Singapore, Indonesia and Penang served with Curries from Goa and Sri Lanka. For example – “Roti Canai” crispy flat bread, served with pickles and Malay curry sauce.
“Sri Lankan chicken curry” cooked on the bone with the spices deeply roasted to bring out the flavour. “Goan beef curry” sweet, sour and rich with coconut milk, yummy. “Achar Achar” pickled vegetables. “Brinjal korma” light aubergine curry.

Starting from the 15th January every Thursday

Vernon Blackmore, Owner

"Food that tracks back to my Malaysian heritage has never been far from any of our menus – Asian dishes at The Table, particularly on our summer street food menus and The Easton White Horse has its very popular Chiu’s Tuesdays, so it was inevitable that we would develop something at the Anchor.

I’ve always wanted to have a simple but authentic curry lunch and for us to be able to offer a takeaway option has always appealed, as a number of customers have asked to take the odd plate away. Now they can take it back to their homes, offices or even boats to have a quick lunch or to have a memorable business meeting, using one of our tiffin tins."

We have been in this pub before but hadn't eaten there. It's been refurbished recently so we thought we'd try it. The food we had for lunch was excellent and we had a smoked fish sharing platter with a portion of triple cooked chips. Another person with us had the crayfish sandwich in rosé Marie sauce. There was plenty of everything and it was freshly prepared. It was all reasonably priced. We were made to feel welcome and would definitely eat there again.

The Anchor is a real stalwart in Woodbridge. Great pub with a great pub menu that really punches. Had beer battered haddock and chips. The fish was fresh, firm and tasty and the batter was incredibly crisp. Perfect pub for great steaks - their rib eye is amazing, fish and curries. Desserts are delicious too

This looks like a small pub but it has restaurant rooms behind the bar. All tables were booked but we managed to squeeze in early as we did not plan to linger after eating. The food was excellent, one of the nicest curries I have eaten. (I can't remember the name of it.) Staff were very helpful.
