About The Anchor

Introducing The Anchor in Woodbridge

Vernon Blackmore and the team have now been at the Anchor for ten years, our offer has developed into what we feel a quayside pub should be...

Great beers, a friendly warm welcome, food that you would expect in a good British hostelry with additional dishes that reflect our backgrounds and passion

Over the years we have managed to forge relationships with our local suppliers to be able to bring you the freshest of ingredients, be it fish off the quayside to strawberries grown just up the road where we get first dibs!

We are now working on developing vegetables grown just for us so we can bring you some of the more unusual and existing Far Eastern product which will complement our famous curries.
We are proud to work with Greene King who has supported us, to bring you the best Ales and we have recently invested in the latest cooling and beer dispense equipment which is now fitted into our 18th century cellar.

We want you to feel the history in the Pub so we have been very careful not to remove the old charm and character in our latest refurb, the floor tiles may have been professionally cleaned and had a protected coat put on them, but they are still a bit wobbly and remind you of the sailors that have spilt beer on them in the past.

However a pub is about people so come and enjoy it with us and let us welcome you in

We have been in this pub before but hadn't eaten there. It's been refurbished recently so we thought we'd try it. The food we had for lunch was excellent and we had a smoked fish sharing platter with a portion of triple cooked chips. Another person with us had the crayfish sandwich in rosé Marie sauce. There was plenty of everything and it was freshly prepared. It was all reasonably priced. We were made to feel welcome and would definitely eat there again.

The Anchor is a real stalwart in Woodbridge. Great pub with a great pub menu that really punches. Had beer battered haddock and chips. The fish was fresh, firm and tasty and the batter was incredibly crisp. Perfect pub for great steaks - their rib eye is amazing, fish and curries. Desserts are delicious too

This looks like a small pub but it has restaurant rooms behind the bar. All tables were booked but we managed to squeeze in early as we did not plan to linger after eating. The food was excellent, one of the nicest curries I have eaten. (I can't remember the name of it.) Staff were very helpful.
